COMMISSIONING OF 6- UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK WITH ICT CENTER, WATER, AND TOILET FACILITY AT AMPAHA, 3-UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK WITH ICT CENTER, WATER AND TOILET FACILITY AT ESAASE/MROUNTUO, AND ICT CENTER WITH COMPUTERS AT APEWU ON TUESDAY 17TH MAY 2022.

INTRODUCTION

Madamfo Ghana Foundation, a Non-governmental Organization operating in the Bosome Freho District with its mother Association in Germany, having identify the educational infrastructure challenges which is negatively retarding the progress of quality educational system in the District, voluntary offered its assistance to that effect by constructing the above named facilities to help improve teaching and learning outcome of pupil in the selected communities and  the district at large. The projects which worth billions of Ghana Cedis was solely funded by the Foundation. It is to be noted that this voluntary social intervention offered by Madamfo Ghana Foundation was not limited to Bosomtwe or Bosome Freho District alone but across the various communities in Ghana.

THE PROGRAMME PARTICIPATION

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, having been briefed with the good works of the Foundation, eschewed his busy schedule to personally witness the commissioning ceremony for the constructed facilities at the four communities mentioned above. The District Chief Executive with section of Management Staff of the District Assembly, the Presiding Member and the Constituency Chairman for the New Patriotic Party, a representative from the Member of Parliament for Bosome Freho Constituency, the District Director of Education, Hon. Assembly Members, the District Police Commander, the District BNI Officer, Traditional Leaders, the Teaching Staff as well as the student body were all present to grace the occasion.   The programme was well covered by pressmen from various media Houses including TV3, UTV, Hello FM, Peace FM, Kings Radio, Angel FM, Adom FM and Akoma Radio. Cultural display by school children and community cultural groups were also in attendance to grace the occasion. The Chiefs from the respective communities were the chairman for the occasion while the Hon. Ashanti Regional Minister was the Guest of Honor with the District Information Service Officer hosted the programme as MC. More than thousands of patriotic citizens troop to the commissioning grounds to witness the ceremony.

REMARKS

Series of commendations, speeches and remarks were delivered by Nananom, the District director of Education, District Chief Executive, the Executive Director of Madamfo Ghana Foundation and the Ashanti Regional Minister.

The Hon. District Chief Executive in his speech, on behalf of the District, expressed gratitude to the Organization for good effort made towards the provision of basic social amenities to help improve the socio-economic life of people living in the community more especially, the educational sector. He however charged the community members to owe the facility by ensuring proper care and maintenance. He urged parent also to take up their responsibilities towards their ward’s educational development.

On the part of Madamfo Ghana Foundation, the Executive Director remarked that the Foundation has been existing since 2004, supporting and providing voluntary social amenities to deprived communities throughout the length and breadth of Ghana. The Foundation was grateful to the Bosome Freho District for the massive support and the effective collaborations they have enjoyed towards the realization of the Organization’s vision. The beneficially communities were called upon to embrace effective maintenance culture to ensure a longer lifespan of the facility. This according to the Executive Director, would enable them to factor favorable monitoring reports for onwards provision of more of such facilities in the district as requested.

The Hon. Ashanti Regional Minister personally, has no other words to describe the Foundation than “madamfopa” Ghana Foundation. He affirmed that indeed, the Organization was a real good and faithful friend to rely on. He emphasized that the responsibility that has to be fulfilled by the Government through the District Assembly, has been perfectly executed by Madamfo Ghana Foundation. The Hon. Minister, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, the Bosome Freho District Assembly and on his own behalf, thanked the Foundation for their benevolence. He was happy to note that the vision of the Foundation was in line with the government with regards to the delivery of quality educational system. He however, urged the Organization to let their light shine extensively within the spheres of the nation for people to emulate their good works. The Hon. Minister reiterated the need to practice effective maintenance culture to sustain the project. To the Leaners, he advised them to take advantage of the improved facilities by committing all their efforts towards effective studies so as to achieve the very purpose for which the facilities were provided.

AWARDS AND HANDING OVER OF THE FACILITY

In an effort to show appreciation for good work done, various awards from Hon. Assembly Members and the Communities were presented to Madamfo Ghana Foundation. The Ashanti Regional Minister on behalf of Bosome Freho District Assembly, presented a citation, a customized shish and traditional stool to the Founder of the Organization to symbolized the developmental role being played to sustain life of people in the communities.

The Hon. Minister with the assistance of Nananom, the District Chief Executive and the officials from Madamfo Ghana Foundation, traditionally, cut a tape to symbolized the official commission and handing over of the keys to the facilities to the beneficial communities respectively.

CONCLUSION

The contribution made by Madamfo Ghana Foundation, was seen as a very laudable investment aiming at inviting other philanthropist and well to do patriotic individuals, to channel their resources in support of the government agenda towards the socio-economic development of the deprived communities.

  1. Good job, way to go! Let’s hope the schools and teachers in these communities will put these computers to good use, and not allow them to sit idle. Please reach out if you do not have the capacity and knowledge to help these kids with these computers. I am sure you can sign up with folks at the KNUST and other higher learning institutions to send volunteers to train your trainers (teachers).
