DCE INTERACTIVE MEETING WITH COMMUNITIES

Introduction

 The Assembly exists to empower citizens to participate in making decisions that affect their welfare and also involve them in Governance processes in a decentralized and democratic environment. Based on this the District Chief Executive Hon. Kofi Adu-Amoateng together with the District coordinating director, Samuel Kyei-Baffour Frimpong, and heads of departments on Tuesday 24th, June 2024 began interactive meetings to engage communities within the district to identify their needs and discuss ongoing and planned government development initiatives. Tweapease, Nsuaem II, Amomorso, Nsuaem I, Nsutem, and Minti were the communities that were visited.

Key Discussions and Outcomes

The District Information Officer welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of community involvement in governance and development planning.

Communities were allowed to voice their needs, concerns, and priorities. Issues raised included infrastructure development (roads, water, electricity), healthcare facilities, education, and Agriculture.

The heads of departments outlined ongoing and upcoming government projects within the district, highlighting their intended impact and timelines. The health directorate representative gave a briefing to the participants at Tweapease Community on the rising number of malaria cases and urged them to take preventative steps to avoid contracting the disease.

 Interactive Q&A Session:

 A lively question-and-answer session followed, allowing community members to seek clarifications and provide additional feedback on proposed projects.

 Commitments and Way Forward:

The DCE assured the communities of the government’s commitment to addressing identified needs. Action points were agreed upon, including timelines for project implementation and further community consultations.

Conclusion:

The interactive meeting served as a vital platform for fostering dialogue, transparency, and accountability in local governance. It provided an opportunity for community members to actively contribute to decision-making processes and ensure that government development efforts align with their priorities. Moving forward, continued engagement and effective implementation of agreed actions will be crucial in achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of life within the district.
