Introduction
The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) successfully launched the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee at the Bosome Freho District Assembly Hall on August 29, 2024. The event was part of NCCE’s ongoing efforts to promote peaceful coexistence and dialogue among political parties and stakeholders in the district for the upcoming 2024 election.
The primary objective of the launch was to establish a platform where representatives of various political parties, traditional leaders, civil society organizations, and the media could engage in constructive dialogue to foster peace, particularly in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections. The IDDC is envisioned as a proactive measure to address potential conflicts, misunderstandings, and tensions during the electoral process.
The event was attended by representatives of the major political parties in the district, traditional authorities, officials from the NCCE, security personnel, members of civil society, and the media. Notable among the attendees were the District Chief Executive, Hon. Kofi Adu-Amoateng, the NCCE District Director, and representatives from the Electoral Commission (District Electoral Officer).
The committee was officially inaugurated and Various speakers underscored the importance of maintaining peace before, during, and after elections. The NCCE District Director emphasized the role of dialogue in mitigating electoral violence and urged all stakeholders to resolve disputes peacefully.
