Introduction:
On Thursday 29th June 2023, Dr. Nsiah Asare, Presidential Advisor on Health at the presidency paid a courtesy visit to the “Agenda 111″ project in Bosome Freho District, Ashanti Region. The project, which was launched by the government with the aim of constructing 111 District Hospitals across the country, has been a significant initiative to improve healthcare infrastructure and accessibility to medical services.
Purpose of the Visit:
The purpose of his visit was to assess the progress of the project and gain first-hand insights into the developments, challenges, and achievements. Additionally, the visit aimed to demonstrate the government’s commitment to the betterment of the healthcare sector in Ghana and its determination to fulfill its promises to the citizens.
Key Highlights:
During the visit, Dr. Nisah Asare, along with chiefs and elders, the District Coordinating Director, the Health Director, and section of staff, were taken on a guided tour of the construction sites. The following are the highlights of the visit:
- Site Inspection: The Health Adviser was able to inspect the ongoing construction activities, such as foundation laying and building structures.
- Engagements with Project Officials: He also met with project officials such as the project manager, contractors (Savana Empire, Nick Seth, Macsam, and Kofi Job), Engineers, and architects. The discussions were focused on the project’s timeline, budget allocation, and possible techniques to expedite the construction process.
Conclusion:
The courtesy visit of the Presidential Advisor on Health to the Agenda 111 project site was an essential step in ensuring the successful implementation of this quality health delivery services initiative. By personally inspecting the construction site and engaging with key stakeholders, demonstrated the government’s accountability and determination to fulfill its healthcare infrastructure goals.
