INTRODUCTION.
Bosome Freho District is among the deprived District in the Ashanti Region which lacks quality Health infrastructure and personnel to take good care of the urgent health needs of people living in the communities. Several efforts have been made by the Assembly in collaboration with Nananom of Asiwa Traditional Authority for government and other non- governmental organizations to intervene in this regard.
The District was however fortunate to be listed among the Eighty-eight (88) Districts nationwide with which the government of the Republic of Ghana in collaboration with the Ministry of Health have approved for the construction of District Hospitals to boost the quality health needs the country deserves.
SITE INSPECTION
Accordingly, a team from the Regional Health Directorate paid an official visit to the District to access the readiness of the Assembly, Nananom and District Health Directorate towards the construction of the proposed facility. About an hour(1hr) was spent for thorough inspection of the 33.45 acres of plot allocated by the Chief and Elders of Kokofu Traditional Council and Asiwa Traditional Authority for the project.
BRIEF INTERACTION WITH STAKEHOLDERS
The Hon. District Chief Executive welcomed the inspectorate team from the Regional Health Directorate for the visit. He gratefully thanked the government of the Republic of Ghana for the initiative after a long deliberation, and affirmed that nothing would change the siting of the facility in the District.
He thanked the Asiwa Chief and Elders for willingly allocated such a vast plot of land for such important facility to the benefit of even the unborn generation in the District. He however promised the Regional Health Directorate of the Assembly’s readiness to support the construction of the facility and urged all stakeholders to effectively collaborate in that regard.
Mr. Asare Bediako, the Regional Health Administrator and Mr. Ebenezer Awuku, the Regional Health Estate Officer, took turn to address the stakeholders on the modalities for the construction of the facility. The officers stated that Asiwa and Adansi Akrofuom were the most prioritized Districts among the fifteen selected Districts in the Ashanti Region for which the government have purported to build the District Hospital.
The massive economic development that were likely to be emerged in the District as a result of the initiative was extensively addressed. The Estate officer emphasized that the available site plan needed to be modified with other essential documents to enable them effectively prepare the cadastral plan to aid commencement of the project.
The Asiwa Chief thanked the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo for the honor done the District. He was grateful that the long-awaited dream and toil has become a reality as the initiative would reduce the difficulties people go through in accessing Health facility in the District and beyond.
CONCLUSION
The importance of acquiring District Hospital in the Bosome Freho District cannot be overemphasized since it would go a long way to improve upon standard of living among citizens in the District and beyond so far as employment and quality Health care is concern.
