SOAP-MAKING TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Introduction

The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development of the Bosome Freho District Assembly organized a two-day training workshop focused on soap-making for persons living with disabilities (PWDs). The event took place on November 18th and 19th, 2025, at Korkyekrom. The purpose of the workshop was to equip participants with practical skills in producing homemade soaps, thereby promoting self-employment and financial independence.

Workshop Details

The first day concentrated on theoretical knowledge and techniques involved in soap preparation. Participants were introduced to different methods of soap-making, emphasizing the importance of quality and hygiene. The second day provided hands-on practical sessions, allowing participants to apply what they had learned under the guidance of facilitators.

The training covered the production of various soap types, including:

  • Liquid Soap
  • Shower Gel
  • Other homemade cleaning products

Facilitators from Lawsco Ventures, experts in local soap production, led the sessions. Mr. Lawrence Baah Acheamfour and Mrs. Abu Hawa guided participants through each step of the soap-making process, highlighting the significance of entrepreneurship in ensuring sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The event aimed not only to impart technical skills but also to foster confidence and self-reliance among PWDs, supporting their inclusion in community development initiatives.

Participation and Support

A total of twenty (20) persons with disabilities from different communities within the Bosome Freho District participated in this empowering initiative.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Frank Konadu, Director of Social Warfare, welcomed the participants and thanked them for attending the program in large numbers.

Conclusion

The workshop was considered a great success, with participants expressing gratitude for the opportunity to learn a valuable trade. The Bosome Freho District Assembly remains committed to supporting and including PWDs in community development and livelihood programs. It is hoped that future initiatives will continue to empower more individuals and promote inclusive growth within the district.
