COMMISSIONING OF 6-UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK AT NSUAEM II ON TUESDAY 1ST FEBRUARY 2022

INTRODUCTION

Bosome Freho District is one of the most deprived districts in the Ashanti Region. Lack of educational infrastructure has been one of the major challenges impeding effective teaching and learning in the District. In an effort to improve upon the educational system in the district, the Assembly through its share of the District Assembly Common Fund allocation, have been able to award some contracts for the construction of educational infrastructure district-wide among which is the construction of 6-unit classroom block at Nsuaem II to help absorb the increasing number of students enrollment in the community. The project which worth millions of Ghana Cedis was awarded to KK Yaro Construction Works after successfully qualified in the National Competitive Tender opening and was jointly supervised by the Works Department of the Assembly. The contractual duration for the construction was one financial year.

THE PROGRAMME

The District Information Officer, Mr. Seth Amponsah being the MC for the occasion, declared the purpose for the gathering after an opening prayer has been said. A brief introduction of the invited personalities with pleasantries was cheerfully performed. The programme was well covered by pressmen from various media Houses such as Kings FM, Kessben FM/TV, Angel FM/TV, Citi FM/TV and Peace FM with musical interlude and cultural display.  Among dignitaries who witnessed the commissioning was the District Chief Executive, District Co-ordinating Director and section of the Assembly Staff, District Education Director, Nananom, Queen Mother, Elders and section of community members, the NPP Chairman for the Constituency, the Contractor for the project as well as the teaching staff and the student’s body were all present to grace the occasion. The chairman for the occasion was the Dadease Krontihene and chief of Nsueam II, Nana Doben Ampong.

REMARKS

The Chairman was grateful to Hon. DEC, Management of the Assembly and the Government as a whole, for timely reaching out to their pressing needs. He pledged to ensure that the facility is put to use effectively and properly maintained. He however used the opportunity to request for more of such interventions to support the educational needs of the increasing number of youth in the community and its environs. He likewise pleaded with the Government to help fix the deplorable roads which was affecting socio-economic development of the district. To motivate teachers to put up their maximum best, Nana urged the citizens to live in harmony with all staff posted to the community.

The District Education Director on his remarks, expressed his appreciation to the Assembly and the Contractor for providing such a befitting facility in support of his directorate. He affirmed his willingness to provide a better educational system in the district and pleaded with the community to ensure that the facility is put into good use.

The Hon. District Chief Executive in his speech, expressed gratitude to Nananom for allocating a piece of land for the construction of the facility. He remarked that the Assembly has been grateful to the good people of Nsuaem II in diverse ways especially, during the unexpected disaster which negatively affected the social life of the community. He thanked Hon. Acheamfour, the Assembly Member of the Electoral Area for exceptional manner he has worked with the Assembly. The Hon. DCE indicated his awareness of the Community’s needs and further informed them that a new contract has been awarded for the construction of additional classroom block to help alleviate their difficulties in this regard. He quickly charged all citizens to be committed to the payment of their mandated tax obligations to enable the Assembly provide the social amenities needed in the district. To the Contractor, the DCE congratulated him for his dedicated effort in completing the project on time even though, the Assemble was still owing him.

COMMISSIONING

The District Chief Executive with the assistance of Nana Doben Ampong, cut a tape to traditionally symbolized the commissioning of the project and thereafter, handed over the keys of the facility to the Headmaster of the school. He urged the community to take good care of the facility and to report any challenges regarding the use of the facility to his outfit for redress.

CONCLUSION

The Assembly has its mandate to facilitate the provision of basic social services and economic infrastructure. Such mandate is said to be effectively implemented if the Community also play its part by paying the needed taxes in support of the Assembly’s commitment.
