PLANNING SESSION BY THE AGRIC DEPARTMENT OF THE BOSOME FREHO DISTRICT.

The Department of Food and Agriculture for the Bosome Freho District had a planning meeting at Asiwa Methodist Church on July 25, 2023.  An annual gathering called the planning session brings together Researchers, Farmers, and Extension Officers to talk about and resolve issues facing farmers.

During the meeting, groups were formed to discuss various issues such as cabbage blight, rice blast, insufficient planting materials for cassava and small ruminants, and poor road network. Mr. Agyemang Prempeh from the Regional office then guided the groups through a planning process that involved identifying the causes, effects, and solutions of each constraint, prioritizing them using a priority grid, and creating a frequency table to reinforce the priority grid.

After completing their group work, each team presented their findings to identify constraints affecting the district. Field demonstrations, training, and seminars were found to be the most effective way in helping farmers increase their output and income.

Overall, the planning session was successful since everyone gave their time and effort to improving the agricultural sector.
